Window Cubby Hole Area...

Currently in development is the extrusion from the main corridor to the window which has an interesting transition between them.

Below are some development shots with Sam's recent texture work:



Materials need a lot of work, the brick tiling on the frame transition between window cubby hole and corridor needs tuning. 

Next up will be the completion and tidying of the whole window area.

Capital done.

Yep, after an extremely long battle with smoothing group artefacts and tangent normal baking we finally have a low poly base with clean normals...

Decided to keep it clean for construction as we can add variation towards the end of the project when we actually have a cathedral.

The verdict is, they will look seamless with the environment when we get to material finalising (detail maps etc). 

Next up, modular window section creation!

Capital Development!

Grrr... Annoying session this time. After creating a high poly mesh inspired by Jack's concept sketches I have had numerous problems getting a final bake effect I like so alas I plan to finalise it tomorrow!

Capital Sketches

Some sketches for the capitals, Louis wanted me to create something based on the reference of Laon Cathedral but with some sci-fi elements. I may have gone a bit overboard with Sci-fi design language, however hopefully there should be enough variety to give Louis and Sam some ideas.

UDK Project is alive!

I have started a new UDK project setup and have a customized package system for the cathedral's assets!

Here is a little grab of the modular pieces in UDK.


Looking smooth... A lot more to go yet!

Scale Planning

Below is a placeholder scale dummy used to check the scale of the player with the environment pieces.
It will be implemented into UDK and used as a gauge to test whether the modular assets needs scaling before imported into UDK.


At the moment, trying to work towards the back of the insides of the cathedral's main corridor, this way the main bulk of the structure can be created by duplicating these modular assets.

Currently require to finish the capitals, top and bottom and the structural modular pieces of the inside corridors to the windows.
